Lois was born in Leadville and grew up in a mining family. After earning a BA in English Lit and an MLS at the University of Arizona, Lois joined her father’s company, Brooks Minerals, in time for the Federal Land Policy Management Act. She set up the uranium focused library before tackling mining claim records work at the San Miguel County courthouse in Telluride. Lois continued to build her career in records and land management with Royal Gold, LAC Minerals and Echo Bay Mines, before making a move to corporate administration and human resources management for Gold Fields Exploration. Later, she served the industry – recruiting in the mining space through the company she founded with Jill Nelson, Brooks & Nelson. The company helps clients find great people. Now retired, she serves on the advisory board to Brooks & Nelson. Lois is a career-long member of Women in Mining and has served on the board of other mining associations. In retirement, she took the opportunity to move back to Grand Junction with her husband, Randy Brenimer, to enjoy the best part of Colorado.
